(H) FREE HEALTH CARE SERVICE :
(a) Mobile Medical Services

The free mobile health care service providing medical relief to the deprived segments of society around Chandigarh and Haryana has become very popular amongst the public. The work is being carried on in Indira Colony in the outskirts of Chandigarh, Rajiv Colony and Azad Colony near Panchkula, in villages around Malah, Kedarpur and Pattan, and in Colony No. 4 (Chandigarh).
Medical consultation, medicines including tablets, capsules, ointments, eye drops and injections were provided free of cost. The team of honorary doctors included Dr. (Brig.) M. L. Kataria, Dr. H.V. Jindal, Dr. Surya Kant Sharma, Dr. A.K. Talwar, Dr. (Mrs.) Aneja, Dr. (Miss) Subhash Gupta, Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Sharma, Radiologist, Dr. P. C. Singhal and Dr. R.C. Sharma. Shri C.L. Nanda, Sri Ravi Kanta Sharma and Shri S.K. Arora are giving regular honorary service for registration of patients on the Mobile Medical Dispensary. The total number of patients treated during the year 2007-2008 was 24087of which 8807 were new.

(b) Camps

(i) Eye Camp: During the year two free eye camps were conducted, one on 07.10.2007 at the slum Rajiv Colony, Panchkula, Harayana and second on 25.11.2007 at Patiala. The total numbers of eye patients examined and treated were 502. 144 patients were given specks and 57 were operated for cataract and other minor surgeries. These eye camps were conducted in collaboration with Sri Guru Harkrishan Saheb Eye Hospital Trust, Sohana, Mohali and Dr. Bansal Charitable Eye Institute, Patiala, where the eye operations were held.

(ii) Skin Camp: Dr. (Mrs.) Radha Mittal of Patiala, a renowned skin specialist, advised & treated 163 skin patients in two skin camp on 30th October, 2007 and 30th March 2008, conducted on the mobile dispensary at Colony No.4 a slum area of Chandigarh and at Kedarpur-Pattan, villages in Panchkula district Haryana.

(iii) Blood Donation Camp: A blood donation camp was organized on 20th January, 2008 at the Ashrama, in collaboration with P.G.I. in which 20 persons donated blood.

(iv) Dental Camp: Six Free Dental Camps were organized on 5th, 6th August 2007 and on 8th, 9th, 11th and 12th Feb, 2008. Dental Surgeon, Dr. N.D. Sharma and Dr. Yogesh Sharma of Kapurthala gave free services during these camps. A total of 161 patients were benefited by these camps in which 38 extractions and 39 temporary fillings were performed and 82 were given medicines.

(c) Sonography
Free Ultrasonography (USG) for referred cases is being done in the dispensary on every Monday. A total of 354 USGs were done. Apart from these, two free camps were conducted at mobile dispensary sites in which another 39 USGs were done.

(d) Homoeopathy
The charitable homoeopathic dispensary is of great help to the people of this area. Some cases are referred to this dispensary even by reputed doctors and others come even from distant areas. It remained open on all the week days, the honorary doctors being Dr. Vivek Mohan on Thursday and Dr. Suhit Khanra on four days a week. Total number of patients treated during the year was 1904 of which 359 were new cases.

(e) Haemoglobin estimation and treatment of anemia: This year the Ashrama did the assessment of the prevalence of anemia in 957school children of a school in the poor locality of Mani Majra. 563 Children having anemia were given Iron and Folic acid tablets for three months.
